Preliminary Results of Visx Iris Registration CustomVue Wavefront-guided Laser in situ Keratomileusis

Purpose:

To evaluate the results of wavefront-guided LASIK using the VISX iris registration CustomVue. Methods: 35 consecutive patients (70 eyes) with low and moderate myopia were treated with the Visx CustomVue wavefront-guided Lasik. Image and wavefront data of each eye was taken by WaveScan before surgery on the operation day. The data were transferred to the Visx S4 and cyclotorsion of the eyes could be detected and corrected by the use of iris registration during Lasik procedure. Results: At 3 months after surgery, UCVA equal or better than 1.0 was 96% and equal or better than 1.2 was 66%. There was no loss of BSCVA. The successful rate of iris registration was 86%. The average cyclotorsion was 2.5 degree (0-8.4). The RMS values of high order aberration change from 0.366 microns preoperatively to 0.692 microns postoperatively. The changes of individual HOA were: Coma:0.214 to 0.685; Trefoil: 0.144 to 0.213; Spherical aberration: 0.119 to 0.435. Conclusions: Wavefornt-guided LASIK with Visx iris registration CustomVue is safe and effective in correction of low and moderate myopia.
